Michigan Wine Regions
Michigan American Viticultural Areas for Wine Tasting
Currently Michigan has four official American Viticultural Area.
These wine regions are a great place to start when you're looking
to visit Michigan wineries
for wine tasting and winery tours.
Fennville Region
Designated AVA in 1981 and is an AVA within an AVA. It
is entirely contained within the Lake Michigan Shore AVA, and borders
Lake Michigan to the west, the Kalamazoo River to the north, the
Black River to the south and a federal game reserve to the east.
Lake Michigan Shore
Region
Designated AVA in 1983 and located in southwestern Michigan's
"Fruit Belt". It is the home to most of Michigans wineries.
Leelanau Peninsula
Region
Designated AVA in 1982 and located in Leelanua County.
Old Mission Peninsula
Region
Designated AVA in 1987 and located in Grand Traverse County
on the Old Mission Peninsula and home to much of Michigans finest
wines.
