Ohio Wine Regions
Ohio American Viticultural Areas for Wine Tasting
Currently Ohio has five official American Viticultural Area. These
wine regions are a great place to start when you're looking to visit
Ohio wineries for wine tasting
and winery tours.
Grand River Valley AVA
Designated AVA in 1983 and located in Lake, Geauga, and
Ashtabula counties in Northeastern Ohio. This AVA includes all the
land that is contained within the larger, Lake Erie AVA around the
Grand River and the shore of Lake Erie.
Isle St. George
AVA
Designated AVA in 1982 and located in Northwestern Ohio
on North Bass Island, an island in Lake Erie.
Lake Erie AVA
Designated AVA in 1983 and located in Northeastern Ohio,
Southwestern New York, and Northwestern Pennsylvania, along the
southern shores of Lake Erie.
Loramie Creek AVA
Designated AVA in 1982 and located in Western Ohio near
Shelby County, Ohio and surrounding Loramie Creek.
Ohio River Valley
AVA
Designated AVA in 1983 and located around the Ohio River
and extends into Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia. This
AVA is the second largest in the United States.
