Washington Organic Wineries
|
Shocking but true, Washington state, the nation's second largest producer of wines has only three, yes, THREE certified organic wineries. However, many of Washingon's wineries practice sustainable farming, but few have made the leap to giving up on sulfites. Like Oregon, most winemakers here see sulfites as necessary evil when it comes to making great wine. In an age where everyone is going green, wineries
are beginning to go green too, and in due time, we can be sure that we'll be seeing more orgainic wineries in the future. Demand is increasing and eventually, many will fall in line. These three Washington organic wineries and vineyards
grow grapes without pesticides and chemicals and process their wines
without the use of sulfites, which is a common practice in traditional
wine-making. You can inquire about
each winery's wine making processes to ensure their wines meet your
organic needs, and you can support their green efforts by taking
a tour of their wineries and buying bottles of their natural and
delicious wines.
